Zoersel (B)
On the boundary line between two villa gardens, privacy is created by a six feet ivy wall, surmounted by espaliered Carpinus betulus. In order not to stress the boundary line too heavily, the hornbeams are placed a small meter of the ivy wall. The resulting space is also practical when pruning the trees and the ivy wall. To soften the straight lines, at the foot of the espaliers a large number of Lonicera pileata are planted. Evergreen shrub honeysuckle, trimmed into low cloud-like shape. Year round, the combination of these three plants shows a nice piece of garden design.
