Many people already know this, but perhaps not everyone: in addition to my work as a tree nurseryman, I am a fanatic mountain biker in my spare time. In the weekends, I usually go out with a regular group. Together we regularly look for new challenges.

For 2025, we as Team MTB Oirschot have chosen a big challenge: the Vrijthof–Vrijthof Challenge. This mountain bike tour of no less than 165 kilometers promises to be a tough but beautiful challenge. We are already in full training and are really looking forward to it. The challenge will take place on May 10, 2025.

An important reason why we are participating in this tour is to support a good cause: the KWF Kankerbestrijding. In addition to the physical challenge, we as a team want to raise as much money as possible to support cancer research.

To raise money, I combine my creativity with this special challenge. Every year around Christmas, I give away hundreds of warm hats to relations. This year I had a unique hat made especially for this occasion.

Why €56,-?
The amount of €56 has a personal meaning for me. I am currently 56 years old and another, much lesser, secondary reason is that my father died at the age of 56. Although not from cancer, this loss was much too early. This amount therefore seemed to me to be an appropriate amount.
